It’s been a minute

I just realized my last blog post was in July.

It’s November 2021. One year since I discovered I have ADHD.

Our little podcast has been humming along, and we’re over 30,000 downloads now. Pretty cool.

In October, I chatted with CBC about my experience of discovering my neurodivergent brain in my 50’s and a few folks reached out with similar stories and experiences, most of them women. Checking our podcast stats this morning, I noticed 60 % of our listeners identify as women.

It’s clear women have been negatively impacted by the pandemic and for some (self included), it’s been the first time we slowed down long enough to notice how much the grind of daily life was eroding our well being. I’m seeing a lot of women pivot careers and choose ways of earning that don’t demand constant communication and gruelling meetings.

Earlier this fall I joined a cohort of learners at SFU in a 6 month certificate program called Community Capacity Building. I’m learning so much about building intentional communities. Also, when to push and when to pause and breathe. It feels like I’m in a forced pause right now and it’s uncomfortable not knowing what’s on the other side.

I don’t have any words of wisdom today.

We’re in the midst of yet another extreme weather event and Vancouver is literally cut off from the rest of Canada by mudslides and torrential rain. I’m privileged and lucky to be safe and dry at home with wi-fi and running water. Lots of folks in BC aren’t so lucky
